Magnum was chosen as a new Jr herd sire as he brings in genetics from his dam's lines that have worked well in our herd. His dam Moody is a beautiful correct doe backed by 4 generations of EX91 dams with EX mammaries. Moody's udder excels in width across the rear, length of fore, strong medial and near ideal teats. She scored on LA an E in front legs as well as rear legs, with V's in her other categories. All traits we strive to perfect and solidify in our herd. Moody has 1 GCH leg and placed 8th 2 yr old at the 2016 ADGA National Show. Her show career was cut short due to an injury, but she remains a strong brood doe and a great asset on the milk line in the Pleasant-Grove dairy.
Magnum's pedigree is stacked with strengths in both general appearance and show wins on both sides. His sire, Rochester has been named the 2017 & 2018 ADGA National Show Alpine Premier Sire, sired the top selling Alpine buck at the 2015 ADGA Spotlight Sale, has sired 6 CH offspring and is an ELITE buck on the USDA Sire Summary. His grandmother- Nodaway SGG Raya's Rapture was the 2013 ADGA National show Alpine Reserve Champion. Rochester has been named 11 x BBIS.
Magnum's grandsire PJ-Baileys' Charming Assassin needs no introduction to us offering strong dam lines that are very familiar to our herd. His sire Charmer was a 2 x Alpine Premier Sire. Assassin sired the 2013 ADGA National Show 3rd place Jr Get of Sire, has produced 2 CH offspring with an 87 average for Type, and sired 4 milking daughters from 3 different herds that placed in the Top 10 at the 2016 ADGA National Show.
Magnum excels in length of body, long bone pattern and dairy strength. He tracks straight forward in the front leg, and his rear legs are placed correctly under him with great angle. I think he may take after his beautiful sire and hit she show ring in a couple yrs!!
